Idioma Kicked Off Spring Conference Season at the 2026 Northeast Conference (NECTFL)

There is something special about gathering with world language educators in person: the conversations are richer, the ideas spark faster, and the sense of community reminds us why we do this work in the first place. This year’s Northeast Conference (NECTFL) in Midtown Manhattan was exactly that kind of weekend for the Idioma team.

From reconnecting with longtime colleagues to celebrating new partnerships and meeting educators in person, the weekend was full of energy, inspiration, and meaningful conversations about the future of language education.

Idioma Education & Consulting was proud to support world language education at the 2026 Northeast Conference (NECTFL) in Midtown Manhattan. The event served as a vital hub for connection, featuring a book signing with author Alba Wagar for her novel El Despertar de Gaby and a celebratory social hour for Idioma’s world language community. A major milestone celebrated during the weekend was the success of Idioma’s New Jersey Alternate Route program, which saw four candidates complete our program in 2025, with another 53 teachers currently in the pipeline to help address the educator shortage. Beyond individual achievements, Idioma focused on the broader future of the profession by sponsoring the NECTFL Advisory Board breakfast. Leadership engaged in critical discussions regarding teacher recruitment and retention, emphasizing that collaborative partnerships across all stakeholders are essential for building sustainable career pathways. We are so grateful for our language educator community, reinforcing Idioma’s commitment to providing practical, classroom-rooted professional development and support.
