Dr. Mellissia Walles is a seasoned education leader, world language consultant, and advocate for educator development dedicated to supporting teachers and school communities. With a deep passion for languages, learning, and equitable access to quality education, she has built her career around empowering educators and strengthening pathways into the teaching profession.

Dr. Walles earned her Doctorate in Education with a research focus on “Examining existing approaches to the recruitment and retention of Spanish teachers”, reflecting her longstanding commitment to addressing one of education’s most critical challenges. Her scholarship and professional work center on developing sustainable systems that support aspiring and practicing educators from entry through long-term career growth.

As Founder and President of Idioma Education & Consulting, LLC, Mellissia leads strategic initiatives in educator support, instructional development, and professional learning. Through Idioma, she partners with schools, districts, and educational organizations to provide consulting services that strengthen instructional practice, educator preparation, and leadership development.

Mellissia has also played an important role in alternative educator preparation and licensure pathways. Her work includes contributions to the New Jersey Alternate Route Licensure Program as well as serving as an Instructional Consultant with the Massachusetts Alternate Route Licensure Program, where she has supported aspiring educators through mentorship, training, and program development. Her expertise in teacher preparation and retention has made her a trusted leader in helping new teachers successfully enter and remain in the profession.

From business development and operations to educator mentoring and instructional consulting, Mellissia is dedicated to equipping individuals with the tools they need to thrive in today’s interconnected and evolving educational landscape. For Mellissia, education and language are more than disciplines of study—they are powerful vehicles for connection, opportunity, and transformation. Mellissia holds a Doctorate in Education from Capitol Technology University, a Master’s in Education from Tufts University, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Brandeis University, a Certificate in Online Instruction from Central Michigan University, and a Massachusetts teaching license in Spanish and French.
