Supporting Our Shared Community: Idioma Travels to Orlando, FL for 108th AATSP Annual Conference and Boston, MA for AATG & AATF Combined Conference
July has been an incredible whirlwind of connection, collaboration, and professional inspiration! The Idioma Education & Consulting team recently returned from wrapping up our travels to two of the year’s premier national world language gatherings.
We loved every minute of reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new educators, and supporting the incredible work you do in the classroom. Here is a look back at our highlights from Orlando and Boston, along with details on how you can still turn your conference hours into graduate-level credits!
🌴 Destination 1: Inspired at the 108th AATSP Annual Conference (Orlando, FL)
Dates: July 8 – 11, 2026
Location: DoubleTree by Hilton At the Entrance to Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida
Conference Theme:Teaching in all tenses: The past, present, and future of Spanish and Portuguese
Our time with the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) community in sunny Orlando was absolutely stellar. Reflecting on this year's theme, we loved discussing how educators are bridging past pedagogical traditions with future-focused classroom technologies.
To everyone who stopped by the Idioma Exhibit Booth to chat about our courses and programs, grab some swag, or talk about customized district professional development, thank you! Your energy and passion for language education are what keep us moving forward.
Special Session Highlight:
Idioma’s Director of Professional Learning and Marketing, Elisa Kirschhoffer, presented a dynamic session entitled, “Making the Most of the Modes: Interpretive, Interpersonal & Presentational Communication in the World Language Classroom.” During this session, Elisa lead the attendees through a practical (and realistic) deep dive into how to design real-world tasks that hit interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication proficiency goals without overcomplicating teacher planning. Particpants left with concrete examples, culturally rooted ideas, and strategies to weave into teaching routines that make the modes work for teachers and their students at every proficiency level. 🏛️ Destination 2: Celebrating Milestones at the 2026 Combined AATF & AATG Convention (Boston, MA)
Dates: July 11 – 14, 2026
Location: The Westin Copley Place, Boston, Massachusetts
Themes:AATG@100: Forging the Future & AATF's L'Union fait la force
From Florida, we headed right back to our home state of Massachusetts to support the monumental joint convention of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) and the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). Celebrating AATG’s 100th anniversary in historic Boston was an absolute privilege!
Special Joint Session Highlight:
A major highlight of our week was our collaborative presentation with the Goethe-Institut USA! We had a wonderful time sharing how our partnership elevates German teaching practices and diving into the details of the renowned DLL (Deutsch Lehren Lernen) courses. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this session!
