Workshop Description
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to use backward planning to drive their authentic resource collection for each unit of their curricula. They will build a library of authentic resources and develop strategies to differentiate and use those resources for formative and summative assessment across all proficiency levels.
Module 1 - Where do I start? Backward Design: Unit Planning 101
In this module, participants will learn to use backward planning to drive their authentic resource search. By identifying the unit theme, proficiency target, essential question and Can Do statements, participants will develop the foundation of their units to drive the authentic resource search.
Module 2 - How do I build? Maximizing Search Terms and Building a Library
In this module, participants will explore how and where to search for authentic resources and will begin to build a virtual library based on their unit documents from module 1.
Module 3 - How do I use them? Using Authentic Resources Across Proficiency Levels
In this module, participants will learn how to differentiate resources across proficiency levels. Through formative and summative assessment strategies, participants will collect templates of activities that can be used across all proficiency levels for all types of authentic resources.
