Course Description
This course is designed to equip teachers with essential Spanish language skills to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking students and parents. The course covers a range of topics, starting with basic greetings and introductions, helping educators confidently engage in common classroom interactions. Teachers will learn classroom commands, instructions, and vocabulary for school supplies and activities, as well as phrases for managing behavior, emotions, and transitions. Participants will also master basic conversational phrases for everyday interactions, asking and answering questions, and discussing student needs. The course includes strategies for discussing sensitive topics, such as bullying or academic struggles, using appropriate language. Finally, educators will learn effective communication techniques for parent-teacher interactions, including writing bilingual notes and emails, and conducting conferences in Spanish to discuss student progress. This course prepares educators to foster a more inclusive, supportive environment for Spanish-speaking families. Conducted in English and Spanish.
